The Practice Nurses are fully qualified to carry out:  

1. Immunisation for children.
2. Routine injections.
3. Cervical smears and family planning advice.
4. Asthma/COPD reviews.
5. Monitoring Hypertension.
6. Diabetic monitoring.
7. Coronary Heart Disease annual reviews.
8. ECG and Spirometry testing.
9. Swabs
10. Stroke/TIA Monitoring

Our HCA is fully qualified to carry out the following services:

1. Lifestyle checks, including blood pressure monitoring, lifestyle advice, advice on alcohol, smoking and weight.

2. Phlebotomy (taking your blood for analysis)

3. ECG's

4. Weight management

5. Flu and pneumococcal vaccinations (cannot do children)

6. Vitamin B12 injections

7. Assisting the GP's in minor surgery, coil fits and implant removals

Fees and Charges

There are many things our doctors do during their own time as they are not core NHS services.  This includes letters to outside agencies, fitness letters, medicals for employment or hobbies e.g. diving or racing driving, holiday cancellation etc.  A full list of our fees can be found below.  You will be informed of the charge beforehand and you will be expected to pay for the letter/medical prior to your consultation.  (Please be aware we do not complete pupil exemption letters).

From 1st April 2015 the Government have asked all practices to ensure that patients be given the option to view their medical records electronically.  Swanlow Medical Centre has been giving patients access to certain aspects of their records for over 5 years i.e. you have been able to book appointments and order your prescriptions on line.  From 1st April we are taking this service further to allow you to view your medical records from the comfort of your own home.

The process is a three step process:

1) you register yourself for an online account via this website from the home screen 

2) you come to the surgery with one photo ID and one other form of ID with your full name and address on e.g. utility bill, this is to ensure that we are giving access to the appropriate person.

3) we will activate your account once we are happy you are who you say you are and you have read and understood the rules around on line access.

If you would like to read and sign the below form and bring it to the surgery when you bring your ID this would save time at the reception desk.

Weight loss surgery abroad/private.

This information is based on guidance that has been provided to us by the British Medical Association and it was developed by the Association of Cheshire and Merseyside Local Medical Committees.

The aftercare for weight loss surgery is of a specialist nature so for patients who have had NHS bariatric surgery, it is provided by a local weight loss surgery service, not their GP practice.  However, NHS Cheshire and Merseyside does not commission or fund a service to provide aftercare for patients who have had weight loss surgery in the private sector or abroad.  This means that we are unable to provide aftercare for weight loss surgery ourselves and we are unable to refer you for this elsewhere in the NHS.

The NHS has published guidance on going abroad for medical treatment and the British Obesity and Metabolic Surgery Society strongly advises UK residents to be cautious when considering weight loss surgery abroad.  If the service providing your weight loss surgery is not providing you with the necessary aftercare, it may be possible for you to purchase this from a UK private hospital or clinic.

We understand that patients do not make the decision to have surgery in the private sector or abroad lightly.  Although NHS aftercare is not available to patients who have had surgery privately or abroad, please be assured that NHS emergency services are available should any emergency treatment be required because of any issues arising from your weight loss surgery.

"All GP practices are required to declare the mean earnings (e.g. average pay) for GPs working to deliver NHS services to patients at each practice.

The average pay for GPs working in Swanlow Medical Centre in the 2022/2023 financial year was £83,104 before tax and National Insurance. This is for 10 part time GPs and 1 locum GP who worked in the practice for more than 6 months.'
